The Cognitive Abilities Test: Fourth Edition (CAT4) provides diagnostic assessments of developed ability and likely academic potential, offering a unique profile of students’ strengths and weaknesses across four batteries: Verbal, Non-Verbal, Quantitative and Spatial Reasoning.
When your CAT4 data identifies areas where a student's attainment may not currently be matching their ability, the Pupil Attitudes to Self and School (PASS) survey will help you to dig deeper and detect what might be causing any barriers to learning, including issues around confidence, resilience and motivation.
PASS looks at nine attitudinal factors that are proven to be significantly linked to educational goals, providing vital insight into students’ attitudes and mindsets that may be having a negative impact on their attainment.
“We wanted the missing piece of the puzzle – attitude. Were children enjoying school and feeling happy, or feeling bored and insecure in their ability to learn? PASS uncovers this information for us, so we can fully understand more than just academic barriers to learning.”
Stephany Herzog, Learning Support Co-ordinator, American International School, Abu Dhabi
“PASS will be able to help us get a sense of where [students] see themselves and make sure we are creating an environment where they feel confident to take risks in their learning.”
Luci Willis, Director of Learning, Nagoya International School, Japan

Matthew Savage, Principal at the International Community School, Amman, explores a number of student case studies showing how he combines data from CAT4, the Progress Test Series and PASS to build a comprehensive picture of each student and identify their specific learning and wellbeing support needs.
