To meet their obligations under the UAE National Agenda, schools are required to complete cognitive ability testing with CAT4 for designated cohorts / students at the start of the year. This must be followed by benchmark testing at the end of the academic year.
The information on this page is intended to support you to successfully complete testing with your students, but please do not hesitate to get in touch with us if there is any further information you need.
All schools must carry out ability testing with CAT4.
“The introduction of the Cognitive Ability Test (CAT 4), in particular, has been an innovative addition that has allowed all schools to identify students’ potential to learn and achieve.”
KHDA International Assessment Team
KHDA NAP Guidelines state that the following students should be tested:
Schools that wish to test other grades, in addition to the target grades, are welcome to do so. This is educationally beneficial as it will provide schools with a more holistic picture of their students’ performance.
Students that have EAL may benefit from getting refreshed CAT4 data every second year as their verbal reasoning in English develops.
Refer to the table below to identify the appropriate test for each year.
|F||8 / 9||9 / 10|
|G||10 / 11||11 / 12|
The testing window is from 1 September 2019 to 31 October 2019.
Driven by the requirements of National Agenda Parameter testing, we are accelerating the transfer of CAT4 Level X from paper to our digital platform, Testwise.
CAT4 Level X will be available for the 2019/20 testing window.
All schools are required to carry out attainment assessment with their students in mathematics, science and English.
To support schools to meet these requirements, our Progress Tests in maths, English and science are available for schools following UK, IB, Pakistani, Canadian and Philippine curriculums.
As well as generating year-on-year progress reports, schools can generate automatic combination reports which combine their existing CAT4 data with the data from the Progress Tests, to identify whether students are making expected levels of progress and whether attainment is at, below or above expectations.
KHDA NAP Guidelines state that all students from Grade 3 / Year 4 to Grade 9 / Year 10 should be tested in maths, English and science.
Refer to the table below to identify the appropriate test for each Grade / Year.
|Year (UK)||Grade (IB, Others)||Level: Progress Test Maths||Progress Test English||Progress Test Science|
The testing window is from 15 April 2020 to 30 June 2020.
All schools are required to sign and return a data sharing agreement, in order to receive their bespoke reporting and analysis to support evaluations.
If you have not yet done this, please contact us on email@example.com
During registration, schools must clearly identify all Emirati students. Click here for further guidance on how to achieve this on the Testwise platform.
We are running an extensive series of training workshops in Dubai and the UAE as a whole to support effective use of data. Find out more on the links below:
