Mumbai Workshop - Using Assessments to Support Teaching and Learning

Mumbai Workshop - Using Assessments to Support Teaching and Learning

Friday 22 September, 09:30 - 12:00

This workshop running in Mumbai will be a comprehensive introduction to the way many international schools are using a combination of assessments that provide data on students’ ability, attainment and attitudes to learning in order to personalise teaching and learning; improve academic performance and support whole school evaluation.

James Neill (International Director for GL Education), will outline how the data can help schools to:
• Measure the cognitive ability of each individual, including EAL students
• Personalise and differentiate teaching within classrooms
• Identify Gifted and SEN students, as well as underachievers
• Support wellbeing initiatives

This workshop will draw on case study material from international schools and be supplemented by hands on analysis of sample data from GL Education’s Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4), Progress Test Series, New Group Reading Test and Pupil Attitudes to Self and School survey.
By the end of the session participants will recognise the value of combining data on student ability and attitudes to understand what lies behind individual performance in the classroom and will know the next steps they need to take to access the appropriate assessments for their students.

All schools attending will have access to 20 complimentary CAT4 and NGRT assessments. If the school is able to conduct these before the workshop with students, there will be an opportunity to analysis of the data within the workshop.
