- Blackpool Opportunity Area: Identifying the weakest readers to close the reading and vocabulary gap across Blackpool secondary schools. Presented by Stephen Tierney, Leader of the Key Stage 3 Literacy Project in Blackpool, and Bernadette Kaye, Assistant Head and Head of Literacy at South Shore Academy
- Bolton: Addressing the language deficit - Sharing how a co-created 'for Bolton by Bolton' improving language acquisition project is leading to improvements in students' reading outcomes, in individual schools and across the locality. Presented by Lisa Ling, Whole Education, and Tony Purcell, Executive Lead for Bolton Learning Partnership.
- Speech, language and communication: The state of play’ - Current challenges in tackling language difficulties across early years, primary and secondary education, with examples of LA-wide initiatives to address the language gap. Presented by Louisa Reeves, Lead speech and Language advisor, I CAN
