Student Data Triangulation Online Workshop Level 2 2018

Student Data Triangulation Online Workshop Level 2 2018

Sunday 21 January, 00:00 - Saturday 10 February, 00:00

This online workshop will outline a detailed approach to triangulating student attitudinal data with the information from attainment and ability assessments to identify and measure appropriate interventions.

Delegates will move beyond the reading of standard reports to analyse and compare individual data points within individual and across multiple assessments.

Real student data will form the basis of case study investigation and group debate.

The Programme:

Week 1:

This week’s lessons and forum discussions will explore key concepts from the Level 1 ‘Data Triangulation’ course, including:

  • #themonalisaeffect, the ‘data triangle’ and Pupil Attitudes to Self and School (PASS)
  • PASS interventions, case studies and student profiles

Week 2:

This week’s lessons and forum discussions will explore the interrelationship between different PASS measures, and between the PASS measures and data from elsewhere on the triangle:

  • Within PASS: cars and quadrants
  • Between PASS and Aptitude/Attainment: triangulation models

Week 3:

This week’s lessons and forum discussions will explore the individual triangles of some actual students, enabling you to begin to ‘Mona Lisa’ their journeys together, developing strategies to apply in your own schools.

Outcomes and benefits to the individual and the school

  • Once a school has begun to tread the ‘data road’, it needs to grow its own data advocates and experts to maximise student-level impact. This will also ensure that the school’s use of data is sustainable in the long-term.
  • The Level 2 Triangulation course equips participants to go beyond a basic level of knowledge and understanding in relation to the ‘data triangle’, and dig deeper to become experts in their own right.
  • The course will provide real and practical examples of #themonalisaeffect in action, and specific triangulation models which can be applied in their own school.

Who should do this course?

  • Participants should:
    • Be confident and competent users of both PASS and CAT4;
    • Be responsible for the management and use of whole school, student-level data;
    • Have an interest in and passion for the potential of student-level data to transform both learning and wellbeing;
    • Be able to commit up to 5 hours per week for 3 weeks for the online course;
    • Be prepared to engage regularly throughout the course, including regular participation in forums and online tasks.

How does it work?

  • The course is delivered via an online portal
  • The course lasts three weeks and requires a commitment of up to 5 hours per week. Delegates can schedule their activity at times that are convenient for them, but should aim to engage early each week to take maximum advantage of the group dialogue.
  • Participants should be prepared to engage regularly throughout the course, including participation in forums and online tasks.
  • Your active contribution in these tasks and discussions is a pre-requisite of certification

What you'll learn...

  • To consolidate and embed participants’ knowledge and understanding of the PASS survey and the ‘data triangle’
  • To develop an advanced ability to triangulate PASS data with available data on aptitude and attainment
  • To explore different models of triangulation as part of an intervention ‘toolbox’
  • To enable participants to lead, catalyse and dynamise #themonalisaeffect in their own schools
