Dr. Gene Kerns and Steve Arnold dive into the latest research and evidence-based strategies for talent development across all areas of schooling. Many teachers may not be familiar with how expertise is truly developed, which can unintentionally limit both students' and teachers' aspirations. As a result, schools and classrooms often fail to be structured to facilitate growth for every student.

Instead of adopting a fixed view of ability, this discussion focuses on how teachers can create environments that promote deliberate practice—fostering high performance and ability in an inclusive and visible way that benefits all students.

The cover research on world class performance and break this down.

Topics include:

  • Essential research covering the 100-year span of the study of expert performance
  • The actual role that genes and innate talent play in our overall success
  • The qualities of “deliberate practice,” heralded as “the most powerful approach to learning that has yet been discovered”
  • Practical ideas on implementing the “science of expertise” in our schools and classroom
